Passport Appointments

All applicants for a German passport must appear in person. We will send the completed application with biometric information to the German Consulate General in New York for processing. The applicant will receive the new passport by FedEx.

Birth Certificates

A child born to a German parent in the United States may receive a German birth certificate upon application to register the birth. It is recommended to apply for a German birth certificate in addition to a German passport, as evidence of citizenship from birth.

Signature Certification and Certified Copies

An honorary consul is authorized to certify (or notarize) signatures on many types of German legal documents. It is also possible to certify copies of original documents.
